About the Training
Our fabulous preteens and teens are the special population that truly benefit from yoga and mindfulness the most. A delicate and tender time in their lives largely influenced by the huge changes taking place both internally and externally.
Gain a solid foundation of practical knowledge and relevant skills with age-appropriate yogic and mindfulness tools to engage and support this diverse age group. Facilitated through a balance of theory and embodied knowledge in a creative student centred and interactive format.
It is my aspiration to empower tweens and teens to be able to experience yoga & mindfulness as a ‘wellness technology’. To develop the confidence to take it, ‘off the mat’ and integrate it into their daily lives. This increases the impact of the tools, ‘yoga in action’, by being available in any moment as they navigate school stress and pressure.
With the dramatic increase in both anxiety and depression in our youth their ability to self-regulate and manage difficult emotions as they arise is essential. Sustainable coping mechanisms and resilience help to promote positive emotional, mental, physical health and well-being. Connecting to a place of stillness daily aids in the cultivation of greater peace and stability. This helps to create an internal place of refuge from which to support ongoing stress management.
Become a much needed, ‘lighthouse’ by showing authenticity, sensitivity, compassion and humour to gain trust, confidence and respect at this vulnerable time. Being light, interested, creative, caring, engaging and fun is essential. Offering them a safe space to unplug, relax, play, connect and be present in their busy lives is deeply rewarding.

Prerequisite
This yoga teacher course is suitable for yoga practitioners, yoga teacher trainees, high school teachers, parents, therapists, healthcare professionals and adults interested in or already working with teens. It is recommended that you have at least one year of personal yoga practise to have a basic understanding of the fundamental poses and the experience of yoga in your own body.
The Creative Yogis teacher training was incredibly valuable in supporting me as a teacher of preteens and provided plenty of resources to use both in a classroom setting and in a yoga activity setting. The course also offered lots of opportunities to practice concepts learned in class.
SONG YEE | School Teacher - Singapore
Karen is an absolute joy as both person and teacher, and her passion for guiding and supporting teens - and empowering others to do the same - is an inspiration. Karen lead her trainees on a journey, making them feel supported at each step of the way. The trainees themselves were humbled by the transformative nature of the workshop, which held a mirror to Karen's facilitation style - grounded in empathy, creativity and reflexivity - and empowered all involved to use highly these highly impactful skills and knowledge to hold space for teens as they transition through important life stages.
